IEC 60598 (Part 1):2008 is an international standard issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission that defines the general safety and performance requirements for luminaires (lighting fixtures used to distribute, filter, or transform light from lamps).

It ensures that luminaires are safe, reliable, and suitable for normal use in indoor and outdoor environments.

• Thermal Management: LEDs are designed with heatsinks to manage heat effectively, preventing accidental burns or fire. High-quality LED products are rated for enclosed fixtures or have adequate airflow to maintain thermal performance.  1
• Continuous Use: Operating LED lights continuously can affect their longevity, causing gradual degradation of light output. The industry standard for measuring useful lifespan is the L70 rating, which indicates the number of operational hours until the light output has decreased to 70% of its initial brightness.  1
• Light Flicker: Low-frequency flicker, which can be invisible but may cause headaches and eye strain, is regulated by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) used in LED drivers.  1
• Certification Compliance: All LED modules must comply with IS 16103 (Part 1):2012 and obtain BIS CRS certification before import, manufacturing, or sale in India. This ensures consumer safety and standardized lighting quality.  1
• Hazardous Area Applications: Hazardous area LED strip lights are engineered to operate safely in explosive atmospheres, providing continuous and uniform illumination in tight spaces and confined structures.  1
