The ISI mark is by far the most recognized product quality certification mark in the Indian subcontinent. The ISI mark is issued by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). There are 381 mandatory products which need ISI certification before being sold in India.

The manufacturer(s) have to complete the testing and documentation required by BIS in order to certify the product with ISI mark. Factory will also require to get physically audited by the BIS officer.

• No one should indulge in sale, storage or distribution of the good covered in this act without registration
• The substandard goods not conforming to the specified standard shall be disposed off as scrap
• Department of Electronics and Information Technology will make sure the law is followed with timely inspections
• The provision of code of criminal procedure, 1973, (2 of 1974) relating to search and seizure shall be applied
• Goods shall be grouped and may be granted series of approval based on the testing of representative models
• The goods of registered users product samples may be collected randomly for ascertaining the conformity to the given standard
• At least one sample from the range of products covered in the scope of registration granted shall be picked up for testing
• All the test reports shall be scrutinized for conformity of the sample with respect to the requirements of the specific standard
• The appropriate authority shall also make available information regarding the status of procession publicly available on its website

IS Standard : IS 15885 (Part-2/Sec-13)

The DC or AC supplied electronic control gear (driver) for LED Modules has been included in the mandatory BIS/CRS Registration Scheme under IS standard - IS 15885 (Part-2/Sec-13). DC or AC supplied electronic control gear (driver) for LED Modules cannot be imported or sold in the Indian consumer market without a BIS registration.
